Sorry, Democrats, it's not just the millionaires and billionaires who want Americans to go back to work

  • Sloan Bashinsky I understand the shut-down protesters' frustration, if they work for companies that were shut down by the virus and they can't go to work, earn money, and are freaked out about losing everything they worked hard to have. If they fit that demographic, they have a whole lot of company.
Someone wrote to me, I think perhaps tongue in cheek, that the shut-down protesters actually are patriots trying to create herd immunity. I replied, if so, then let them all catch the virus and infect their families and everyone in their social, church and business circles. I wonder if they are THAT patriotic?
I'm frustrated. Can't imagine living like this a long time, or even another month. But I'm not okay doing things that can infect me with the virus. I then suffer and very likely die horribly, given my age and history of respiratory tract infections, including pneumonia. I also become a vector for the virus.
I think governors increasingly will be pressured by their constituents to loosen things up. If governors don't do that, they will face increasing civil unrest, jeopardize their reelection chances, and give Trump votes he otherwise would not get. The scientists and right-to-lifers, in the not get killed by the virus sense, need to face the stark reality of financial and social armageddon America staying shut down will bring on.
Meanwhile, and all of this that follows is a bit tongue in cheek, I wonder how patriotic President Trump and his shutdown protesters really are? I read yesterday that Crest toothpaste is made in communist China. Will President Trump and his protestors stop using Crest, Colgate and other toothpastes made in China? Will President Trump try to ban all imports from communist China, including facemasks, medical drugs, toys and games, sporting goods, cameras, computer accessories, telecommunications equipment, cell phones, TVs, radios, washers and dryers, stoves and refrigerators, vacuum cleaners, hammers and nails, clothes (thank you, Ivanka), and so forth and so on? Will President Trump, his family and his protesters stop buying products made in China? Will President Trump's protesters quit working for companies that buy parts and components made in communist China? Are they THAT patriotic?
