Trump blames Democrats for coronavirus scare hoax

While Wall Street plummets over coronavirus reaching America, CDC issues national warnings of coronavirus pandemic, Vice President Mike Pence heads national coronavirus taskforce, North Korea locks down its borders to defend  coronavirus invasion from neighbor China.

If President Trump contracts the coronavirus, will he make that known, quarantine himself and blame the Democrats?

If President Trump dies from the coronavirus, will MAGAs and Tuberville blame the Democrats?

hazardous U.S. weather advisories

From the Black Belt:
James Clyburn gives a master class on what Democrats need to do to win the election. A must listen for all White Democrats - especially those who live in blue states. So many whoppers and gems in this interview (also found in today's FiverThirtyEight Politics podcast feed).

  • Sloan Bashinsky What I hope happens is all blacks who are eligible to vote, vote for whomever the Democrats nominate. I also hope blacks in the U.S. military go on strike against fighting in rich white American men's wars for corporate profit, such as the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. After Dr. Martin Luther King came out against the Vietnam war, he was killed. Same had happened to President John F. Kennedy after he got cold feet about expanding American military presence in Vietnam.

    • Sloan Bashinsky Well, I figured not even Trump, Republicans and MAGAs could miss hell freezing over clue.
    • Sloan Bashinsky All the fire down there left and burned up the planet.
    • Sloan Bashinsky Last summer the hottest where I live in Alabama that I remember since I was born in 1942. This winter the warmest since I was born. So far, I think, two short patches of below 32 F at night. Unheard of during winter here.
    • Victor Clarke Yeah no worries all part of Trump's Plan to MAGA
    • Sloan Bashinsky MAGA kinda rhymes with magma.

A friend of mine called to say he dreamed last night that the Dems nominated Bernie Sanders and Trump got elected again.
    • Victor Clarke That’s not a dream .....It’s a Fucking Nightmare !!!!!
    • Sloan Bashinsky hope not never ending, but it don't look swift-ending to my old eyes that have seen a heap since they started getting opened wide by a band of angels 30+ years ago ...

What if Jesus ran for U.S. president today?

Today's post returns to discussion with a fellow in yesterday's Who invented socialism: Jesus or the Devil? post, which grew more legs. This fellow seems to think very deeply. However, I wonder if he thinks so deeply that he does not see the comfort food most Americans yearn for ongoing? Money to pay their bills and have some semblance of a life. Medical care they can afford. Protection from foreign and domestic threats. My recollection from reading the Gospels is Jesus said take no thought of tomorrow, and consider how God takes care of the birds of the air and the lilies of the field, and seek first the Kingdom of God and trust God to provide as the birds of the air and the lilies of the field are provided. How well would Jesus do today as a U.S. president candidate if he publicly said that? And, it is more blessed to give than to receive? And, resist not  one who does evil; turn the other cheek; love, pray for and do good to your enemies?
  • Luis M Sanchez-Covisa
Luis M Sanchez-Covisa what was invented by the Devil was politics. clairly that's what Jesus meant by 'render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's'... who's Jesus? would you rather vote Her/Him president? that would be a nice twist for a very old tale...

  • Luis M Sanchez-Covisa
Luis M Sanchez-Covisa on the other hand, it's exactly what's embraced by the agreement to exclude religion from politics as established in the constitution of the US., what's more like Jesus? again, what's more important? if you're talking human beings like you and me and most others, then i prefer a secular republic to a theocracy, as in Iran or the Vatican. i just want to pay attention to exactly that. is allah and god the same only deity? why are they then so dedicated to warring each other? always only the same mortals dying anyway. so the interpretation is either human stupidity, or all part of His plan, which is interpreted in all the world under all names, languages and traditions. if it's theology, the politics must be seen as a way to do good, or to corrupt society. it can do both. how do you effect collective needs without politics? if seen from a human perspective, you will see all the virtues (and its most evil sins) reflected completely in enemies and friends. which is how satanism really works, or how it's seen by the very bad christians... (and jews, islamists, and followers of every other deity/tradition). if it will take one party it's because it has already taken both. if we're talking on the border of precipice, then this is the time to do it. i don't mind. my deity has better noodles.

  • Sloan Bashinsky
Sloan Bashinsky The angels who run me go by the names, Jesus, Michael and Melchizedek. They taught me that God is in all religions, and outside of and beyond religion. Mine's bigger and better than yours permeates humanity, religion is one arena. The framers of the U.S. Constitution and early Amendments thereto (The Bill of Rights) did not intend to separate the American government from God, but they did not want a religion controlling the government, as had happened in Europe and elsewhere, with grave consequences to anyone who did not adhere to that religion. The Vatican also had its very dark days of persecuting, torturing and killing people who dared to say or write what was not approved by the church. Looks to me America today could be on the brink of such a thing, based on the rage I frequently see on TV and in newspaper and online reports of President Trump and the MAGAs. They are so wound up thinking they always are right, that it seems never to occur to them that even perhaps they are not always right, and might not be right a lot of the time. Bernie Sanders and his legions get really self-righteous, too. Bernie got called out good in the Dem debate tonight for having voted 5 times against the Brady bill, and he did not deal with it but changed the subject. To me, the Republican Party and the Democratic Party are religions. The Democrats are fractured into sub-parties. The Republicans have surrendered to someone who is not a Republican, but is a profiteer, who in his own mind seems incapable of admitting he does anything wrong, and becomes furious with people who don't praise and obey him, and seeks revenge. The one great thing he truly has done is put into the bright light of day just how great the divide is in America, and the Democrats had a great deal to do with that by drafting Hillary Clinton in 2016.
  • Sloan Bashinsky
Sloan Bashinsky As for would I vote for Jesus if he is on the ballot this year? Yep. And I would expect him to be killed if he got elected, or sooner, perhaps by Christians who didn't recognize him. Meanwhile, I got to wondering this morning if the corona virus starting out in China was a message from God to China, and how President Trump so far has downplayed a coronavirus threat in America tells the Republicans and MAGAs how he really feels about their welfare? Given what's happening in China already, it looks to me the corona virus could be a far greater treat to Americans than Osama bin Laden and 9/11. It is difficult to argue the Devil did not invent politics. The Devil invented lots of things, it seems. But if the Devil did not exist, as some people claim - "Ignorance is bliss," my mother used to say when stuck my head in the sand about something I had done that I ought not to have done, and ducked taking responsibility - then what would challenge me to change, grow, instead of staying stuck in whatever mud and bliss I have? I have a friend who said you seem kinda tangled up, and I said back that maybe you are, but you do think about things, and I think people need to know people like you exist. Looks to me you are lot more tuned in than Donald Trump, Mike Pence, Mitch McConnell, most of the Republicans in Congress, most Republicans and any MAGA I have known and read about. And plenty of Democrats, too. I wonder though, Luis, if you spend time looking in the mirror, at faults in yourself? The angels who run me put me through many courses in mirrors, and I still get refresher courses. As Jesus said to someone in the Gospels, First take the beam out of your own eye. That's never been fun for me to do. I don't know anyone it was fun for. I didn't see any Democrats on stage last night who seemed like they spent much time before a mirror. I ran for public office many times in Key West and the Florida Keys. Participated in many candidate forums. When my allotted time to speak ended, I shut up. As did most of the other candidates. Not the Democrats last night, or in prior debates. They not only did not shut up when their time was up, they kept interrupting other candidates who had the microphone. If they cannot abide by the rules of such debates, will they abide by rules imposed by American law and common decency? Are they any different from the other side of the aisle?
