algorithms in a cloud and doublespeak have all but captured America

Text  of email yesterday from an old member of the Florida Keys Resistance to a few people who publish online:
You tell the stories about people — human beings — that changes everything. … We know we have the facts and the figures … but when you get the emotion on your side, and the stories on your side, it’s over. You’re going to win.”

Article quoting Koch.
We are more than algorithms in a cloud.

Text of my reply:
Who is We, who have the facts and figures on their side?

Without the facts and and figures, stories are just stories, yes?

Without the people involved in the facts and figures, what you have is raw statistics, yes?

For quite a while, I watched Key West, Florida Keys, State of Florida and US elected officials and their official spokespersons (spin doctors) and lawyers (spin doctors with more education), and local and national media, and local and national websites/blogs attempt to get the facts and figures right, with people in the stories; and I saw just as much, or more, attempt to spin the facts and figures, and the people who produced the facts and figures. Facebook is even more of a spin engine. Also Twitter.

Spinning (twisting) the facts and figures, and quoting out of context the people who created the facts and figures, is now the American way. Starting at the very top. President Trump. Congress. The U.S. Attorney General. Homeland Security. National Intelligence Agency. FBI. ICE. As above, so below.

Twisting and quoting out of context is as deeply rooted addiction as daily mainline heroin injections.

Look at Saturday's Kentucky Derby. The winning horse got disqualified for changing lanes and interfering with two horses in close pursuit. I published an old friend's Facebook post about that yesterday, in which he called the disqualification just another liberal SOCIALIST misdeed. I wonder if my friend even looked at the instant replay, which you can do by opening this link.

“An explanation of the historic inquiry ruling that disqualified Maximum Security, making Country House the @KentuckyDerby winner. https://t.co/YZqqn4ucbJ”
twitter.com

That video clip clearly shows the jockey of the lead horse steered his horse over into the paths of two closing horses and caused those two horses to slow down. One of the two horses' jockey filed a complaint, as allowed by Derby rules. Three reviewers agreed with the complaining jockey, whose horse had come in 2nd and then became the winner.

But who did my old friend blame? The jockey of the horse that changed lanes and went on to win? No. My friend blamed the liberal SOCIALIST state.

Who did the owner of the disqualified horse blame? His jockey? No. He blamed the Derby officials.

Donald Trump's former personal lawyer and gofer and cover-upper and payoff artist Michael Cohen is headed to prison today, after belatedly ratting out his former client hoping, I suppose, to get a lighter sentence than otherwise would have been bestowed upon him by a federal judge.

Does President Trump applaud Special Prosecutor Mueller for nailing his former miscreant lawyer? Heh. Rhetorical.

Does President Trump applaud Mueller for blowing wide open just how much Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election?

Does President Trump applaud President Obama and his  FBI director James Comey, who disclosed during the 2016 presidential race all the juicy Hillary Clinton misdeeds?

Does President Trump applaud President Obama and Comey for NOT disclosing in 2016 that the FBI also was investigating whether Trump and his cronies were colluding with or were assets of Russia?

All rhetorical.

Trump is chanting, "Investigate the investigators!" - who got him elected.

What is happening is straight out of George Orwell's 1984, where the big brother government spin department (machine) uses doublespeak to rewrite history to Big Brother's liking.

Except it's far worse than 1984

Everywhere I look doublespeak is happening.

People I know well use doublespeak like toilet paper. A necessity.

Local governments, corporations, non-profits, churches, associations, schools, etc. are on automatic doublespeak.

As below, so above,

And, yes.

Sometimes the truth and emotions actually see the light of day and, for a moment, prevail.

Our friends at Key West the Newspaper (thebluepaper.com) ongoing rock the collective Key West and Florida Keys delusion boat.

As do I at my blog.

Some of the readers on bigpinekeycom's Coconut Telegraph public forum do it. But I see plenty of the other at that forum.

Sometimes I see real stuff on Facebook.

Yet, I don't know any publisher but myself, who is poked and worse by angels about what he takes on and reports and opines. There is no way to appreciate that remark, unless it is happening to you.

Kudos to people who are real to the point of outing themselves when they mess up.

Kudos to journalists and bloggers and Facebook posters who tell it like it is, regardless of the blow back they might receive.

You copied your email to the editor of the Coconut Telegraph, who fiercely defends the identities of his comment contributors. Anon Ymous they take no risk. How are they, therefore, any more than algorithms in a cloud?

I got slammed plenty by the Anon Ymous bravehearts on the Coconut Telegraph. I took it as praise.
