Is "Avengers: Endgame" a statement that religion, science and politics have failed and humanity will destroy itself and Planet Earth?

This past Friday, I went to my local cinema to see "Avengers: Endgame". I had seen the prequel,  "Avengers: Infinity War", and all but the Ant Man and Wasp precursors:

  1. Captain America: The First Avenger
  2. Iron Man
  3. Iron Man 2
  4. The Incredible Hulk
  5. Thor
  6. Avengers
  7. Iron Man 3
  8. Thor: The Dark World
  9. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  10. Guardians of the Galaxy
  11. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
  12. Avengers: Age of Ultron
  13. Ant-Man
  14. Captain America: Civil War
  15. Black Panther
  16. Spider-Man: Homecoming
  17. Doctor Strange
  18. Thor: Ragnarok
  19. Avengers: Infinity War
  20. Ant-Man and the Wasp
  21. Captain Marvel
When I reached the cinema for the 4:30 p.m. showing, I saw the very large parking lot had only a few open parking spaces. I'd never seen the parking lot anywhere close to that full. Usually, it was most full on Saturday afternoons and evenings and Sunday afternoons, when kids were not in school.

The cinema's website had shown Endgame running about every hour in the 16 theater cinema. I was told at the ticket office that the 5:30 p.m. showing was the only one with tickets still available for purchase that day, and a line would start forming soon. I bought a ticket and walked to where the line already was forming. I spent the next 45 minutes diddling on my I-Phone and pondering my navel and the fate of myself and the Universe, actually, and in movie theaters.

In Infinity War, the big bad super villain Thanos had eradicated half the people on Earth and everywhere else, to save the remaining people and their many habitable planets and the universe from over population and pollution. More than half the avengers were killed. Or rather, they, like half the regular Earthlings, crumbled into molecules and atoms and disappeared.

Endgame is the remaining Avengers' effort to reverse the Infinity War outcome. Joined by Captain Marvel, who had not yet made the scene when Thanos won the Infinity War.
Captain Marvel is actually an alien, who through Sci-Fi methods in her coming out movie, became an Earthling with amensia, loaded with latent alien super hero abilities surpassing all the Avengers' abilities.

That's nearly all I'm gonna say about what happens in Endgame, which is breaking box office sales records:

Box-office analysts expect “Endgame” to collect around $275 million in the U.S. and Canada this weekend, with some estimates approaching $300 million. Either way, it is widely expected to beat the record held by last year's “Avengers: Infinity War,” which opened to $258 million.2 days ago
I've been a Sci-Fi nut since I was a kid. I always thought there were other worlds with people on them. Had to be. Too many other suns and galaxies for there not to be other people. Even if they didn't look like Earth people. So, I've always been a sucker for Sci-Fi movies.

And, I long felt I am not originally from this planet. Then, I became convinced, based on weird things that happened in this life, which could leave no other sane conclusion, regardless of what anyone else might think about my state of mind.

Note that I have not dragged angels into this, until now. That's an entirely different realm and discussion, other than, it's logical, as Spock might opine, to think, behind the scenes, supernatural beings and ETs inspire SciFi films, in an effort to cause Earth humans to at least wonder if, or believe, or be convinced "their" planet is not the only place in the entire great Creation where so-called intelligent people, beings, or whatever, exist.

Such a microscopic insular view is but devolution from when so-called great minds on this planet absolutely, and pathetically, knew the world was flat and the sun revolved around it, and God made the planet and the entire Universe in 6 days, and then God rested.

I have to wonder how many right-wing Christians still believe that version, despite all the fossils, including the dinosaurs?

I hate to think those people's president is in the Oval Office. A president who says the climate is not changing. There is nothing to worry about. Thanos has no reason to come to Earth.

Maybe the Avengers need to have themselves another movie, in which they deal with what Thanos fixed in Infinity War, and they then unfixed in Endgame?

Perhaps the huge global popularity of the Avengers movies is hard proof that religion, science and politics are not working on Planet Earth?

Well written, Sloan. I agree with your conclusion (supported even by statisticians - of all people) that there are simply too many stars and planets in the universe for us to be alone. But we are probably unique - like all the rest of whatever they are. I tend to be something of an agnostic when it comes to 'the others. I
believe we may find it difficult to 'know' them even if they came among us. [Your may take issue over your angels - are they not of Earthly origin?] We and they (the others) would most likely be comprised of totally different, and unrecognizable, stuff. Our incredibly complex lifeforms here on Earth, right down to their molecular make-up too, seem simply too cleverly derived to overlook the likelihood of SOMEKIND of 'creation'. That we are even capable of cognitive understanding of that process is the ultimate joke upon humans and our -ism. Thanks for your thought-provocation. I need to see a few of those movies you listed before submitting to the probable complexity of 'Endgame'. tg

Thanks, Doc -

Angels are not of matter origin. At least not what science says is matter. Angels can take any form, based on my experiences with them. They are not bound by material physics, including the speed of light. Yet, there is a physics in which they exist, which is beyond human comprehension.

I know ETs exist, because I have had direct contact with them, too.

Imagine the commotion, if suddenly the veils were dropped, which insulate Earthlings from what really is going on. Mass, what? Hysteria? Psychosis? Jubilee?
